Fat Dissolving

Deoxycholic Acid is a fat dissolving medication which can be used to improve small to moderate specific areas of fullness in the face and body that are ineffective to reduce despite healthy diet and exercise.

Deoxycholic Acid is found naturally in the human bodies, aiding in digestion and the absorption of dietary fats. When injected into fatty tissue, it destroys the fat cell membrane to release the local fat cells allowing it to naturally metabolize and be permanently removed from the body over the next few weeks.

A series of 3-5 treatments spaced every 4-6 weeks is recommended for optimal correction.

  • Once the fat cells are destroyed, they are no longer able to grow or restore fat. Therefore, the results of deoxycholic acid may be permanent subject to any health or lifestyle changes.

  • The number of treatments required is case dependent, but an average of 3-5 treatments is typically recommended for optimal results.

  • Downtime is minimal. You can return to work and most daily activities immediately after the treatment. It is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise for a few days after the treatment as it can increase possible bruising and prolong localized swelling.

  • The most common side effect of Deoxycholic Acid treatment is localized swelling in and around the injection site and this can last up to 2 weeks after the treatment. Other possible side effects include: bruising, itchiness, redness, and general discomfort. There is a small possibility of numbness or tenderness around the site of the injection, which can last up to two months in some individuals.
